What are the mechanical characteristics of Aluminum?

  February 12, 2021 Canalum

Among the mechanical characteristics of aluminum are the following:

  • Easy to machine.

  • Very malleable, it allows the production of very thin sheets.

  • Quite ductile, it allows the manufacture of electrical cables.

  • Soft material (Mohs scale: 2-3). Tensile strength limit: 160-200 N / mm2 [160-200 MPa] in the pure state, in the alloyed state the range is 1400-6000 N / mm2. Duralumin is a particularly strong alloy.

  • Material that forms alloys with other metals to improve mechanical properties.

  • It allows the manufacture of parts by casting, forging and extrusion.

  • Weldable material
